It was Monday morning June
when Chris and I boarded our flight to Vegas to begin our journey. We live for
a good adventure. We had been planning a road trip for years and finally
settled on the South West to take on this summer. National Parks being our
destinations, we landed and rented a car and set out on the road. We had no
timeline, no official plans. We started off towards Moab, home of Arches
National Park and begun our journey through Utah.
We spent 5+ hours driving
through Utah, stopping to photograph the beautiful scenery. Our only goal for
the day was to get to Arches before sunset. We reached the park a couple of
hours before the sun went down, and we were astounded by the beauty and so excited
for our first arrival. Watching the sunset over the red rocks was incredible.
The warm light casting over everything was beautiful, and it matched my hair.
We stayed until the sun was fully set before heading into Moab.
Driving all day we hadn’t
seen much civilization since we left the city limits of Las Vegas, so the
sudden view of a little town, covered in lights as we emerged down the mountain
made us both so excited to explore. We settled on having dinner at Moab
Brewery, micro brews being a shared love of ours. Moab is known for it’s
adventurous lifestyle. Mountain biking seemed to be the call of the people
there, as the brewery was connected to a bike shop. The decor consisted of
bikes hanging from the walls and beers named after bike parts. We really
enjoyed the atmosphere and the brews. After dinner we found ourselves at the
Aarchway Inn where we decided to spend the night.
